Ok folks,

First, I would like someone to forward this to other SD16 leadership as usual.  We have had a very successful few days in getting the issue of Mark Olson’s Endorsement out into the open to talk about.  Jason Lewis spent time on his show yesterday and today to help attack the Senate Caucus Republicans.  We have successfully taken a page 7 blurb and turned it into front page news.  We need to keep the pressure on and keep getting word out to folks in our district.  We have about 3 weeks before a Sept. 9th primary.  Until we receive official written confirmation from Alison Krueger that she will not run for the SD16 seat and also receive a written public endorsement from her for Mark Olson, we must assume that Krueger is still attempting to run in the primary.  We need to keep pressure on her to do so and add pressure to the Republican State Senate Caucus and Norm Coleman to withdraw support for Krueger.  I have drafted three letters attached in a single word file.  They are addressed to Alison Krueger, the Senate Caucus Republicans, and Norm Coleman.  I would like to see these signed by the persons listed.  How we get these signatures is the thing I do not understand.  Perhaps letters should be sent individually to signers to send to the appropriate recipients?  Have Ron Carey, Mark Swanson, etc sign and fax them to us to deliver to Alison Krueger?

I want to use the authority of the entire GOP leadership to bat down the senate caucus and Norm Coleman.  It would also help keep pressure on Alison to do what she needs to do.  These letters, if signed by the appropriate persons, will have great weight.  We would have the signatures of House, Senate, Congressional, and Statewide GOP authorities signing.

Mark Swanson said we in the GOP couldn’t do anymore about Krueger and the Senate Caucus on Jason Lewis’ show.  Well, this is one more thing we can do. It’s just very important we get out to the folks of SD16 to get them out there to vote for Mark.  This letter may give us a big stick to help our candidates.  We need to get these signatures.

-Chris

IS THERE ANY HONOR ANYMORE?

Letter to the editor of the Elk River Star

The question appears to be honoring ones pledge to the delegates of the
Republican Party.

Mark Olson signed a pledge.  He did not keep his.  I decided to keep mine
and let the Republicans that we serve in the district decide in the
September 9th primary.  Those of you, who are still hung up on exact wording
and adhering to a pledge, turn your eyes to State Republican Platform
section 8 - D

Focus on his pledge.  (which he made public May 3 and Aug. 7.)

Mr. Olson put 5 (strongly agree with) along side the following: “Adopting
codes of conduct for all Minnesota elected officials that require
resignation and loss of pension and benefits upon conviction of a felony or
any crime involving dishonesty or moral turpitude.” (”.base, vile, shame,
embarrassment, depravity.Webster definition of turpitude.) Some inquire “how
can Mr. Olson strongly agree with that platform while, Courtroom documents
prove he was convicted of a crime?  How can he still run for office and keep
his pension since he strongly agrees with that platform?”
He tells us his family and friends asked him to run.  He did.
Mark Olson broke his pledge and put Republicans at risk.

I signed a Republican endorsement pledge (recommendation of delegates based
on their vote) that I would abide by their recommendation.  By state law,
Olson and I are on the Primary ballot, all Republicans can vote to determine
the Republican that will represent their party in November.
Many private and public supporters want me to break my pledge to the
delegates that voted for Mark.  These state platform supporters believe Mark
should have kept his pledge and not run.

I signed a pledge - I am a woman of my word.  Who would want any less out of
their public officials?  Breaking ones word causes low participation and
cynicism in the parties.

I have received a barrage of certified letters, emails and phone calls from
the Olson supporters to intimidate me by demanding that:  (1) I publicly
support Olson and  (2) do not speak to anyone about the Primary ballot.  I’m
already bound by my pledge to wait until September.

This harassment toward my supporters and me is nothing more than an attempt
to buy time until September 9th and suppress the free speech of others that
believe I am more qualified as a strong classic conservative working on the
issues of today.

To answer the question “what are you doing if you’re honoring the pledge?” I
am running our companies, working with others to find avenues for our
country to drill here - drill now, and I am researching alternative energy
resources that can aide our energy problem while having the ability to stand
on their own of which I am a strong advocate.
Mark supporters should have kept to the issues of our state instead of
focusing on me.

Out of respect to the local party delegates and SD 16 citizens, we all know
a decision will be made in the September 9th Primary.”
